Getting a chronic diagnosis is not just about coping with a medical condition. It’s about putting your old life to rest and embracing your new one.

There’s no nice way to say it. I’m definitely not here to make you believe that you just need to “stay positive” and “keep fighting”. These words feel hollow and have no real meaning right now.

  • How can you stay positive when everything in your life is changing and when so much is uncertain?
  • What does it mean to keep fighting when you’re not really sure who or what your battle is really with?

Trust me, I understand this.

When you have a chronic illness – you learn to expect the unexpected every day. You have to deal with your diagnosis, process your emotions and learn to work with your body.

And you need to do ALL OF THIS WHILE COPING WITH YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, WORK, DOCTORS and MORE. This cycle is dynamic. You are forced to adjust to new circumstances all the time.

The problem with these constantly changing and challenging situations is that they’re often too much to process – let alone handle. And you find yourself too overwhelmed to even begin working through them because your anxiety levels have shot through the roof.

Don’t worry – I’m going to be here every step of the way 🙂

If you’re here, then you know what it’s like to have your life taken away from you because of a chronic illness.

I know that feeling too. In 2010 I was told that I would never walk again after being diagnosed with CRPS II.

I had already been suffering for two years without knowing what was wrong. By the time they told me what I had – I was also told it was too late.

Everything I knew about my life changed instantly. But you want to know what’s crazier? My diagnosis did not scare me at that moment. I actually felt relieved because I was given an answer. It wasn’t the answer I wanted... but it gave me something to work with.

Since then, I’ve spent the last 10 years figuring out how to make my new life work for me. Don’t get me wrong – it hasn’t been easy. I’ve had more diagnoses in the process and I felt like life just kept handing me knockout punches.

There were so many points where I felt like giving up on myself. But, with a lot of help, I decided to stick it out.

I promised myself that if I made it through, I would share my journey with anyone else who was feeling alone and lost because of a chronic illness.

I have documented absolutely everything about my health. Everything I’ve done, what works and what doesn’t, and how to separate the bullsh*t advice from the helpful advice in the last 10 years*. Now, I want to share it with you.
